Track properties
This is the most important window. If you would not use it as supposed, then
MP3 Manager is not suitable for you!!! Try to get all possible information
and fill out all fields. It will pay off in better sorting/selecting possibilities.
This window can be activated after mouse right-click or Enter in track list as
well. You can go directly into lyrics3 tab using menu, shortcut Shift+Enter
or from right-click menu.
ID3 Tag
Filename is copied to field "Title", supposing that files are named
by track name. By default the name is automatically corrected by autoformatter.
Check box for inhibit track to be selected randomly is available here.
"Get artist/album from dir names" button can work only if
you have your media files stored on disk in folders in this way: ...\artist\album\track.mp3
"Get artist from file name" button gets artist's name from
filename, if any of following standards are used:
- (Artist) track
- [Artist] track
- Artist - track
"Autoformat input" button ensures:
- removes trailing number of track retrieved from filename (for example 01-track.mp3)
- ensures correct upper/lowercase in all names according to English spelling
Check settings for ID3 tag in Preferences
For adding Tag or to modify any field on more tracks at once use command "ID3
Tagger", available from right-click menu.
Use Drag & Drop for easy text copying between fields of ID3 Tag/Lyrics3 Tag or from
any external source supporting D&D.
Lyrics3 Tag version 2.00
Since version 3.8 supports MP3 Manager Lyrics3 Tag version 2.00 (see my
homepage at http://www.volweb.cz/str/
for specifications of ID3 Tag and Lyrics3 Tag).
Current Lyrics3 Tag features and capabilities:
- Lyrics - up to 99999 characters
- Music/Lyrics Author - up to 250 characters
- Other info - up to 99999 characters
- Extension for title/artist/album fields of ID3 Tag. Each field can keep
up to 250 characters. Important: Extended fields are designed as backward
compatible with old ID3 Tag where only 30 characters are allowed - that means
that in any application not Lyrics3 Tag v2 capable are only first 30 characters
visible. To help you find out when extended field takes place, the label on
left side of every field changes to "Ext. ..." if text is longer
than 30 chars. This necessary backward compatibility has a drawback, however:
extended field can be recognized only upon condition that first 30 characters
of ID3 Tag field are identical to first 30 characters in corresponding field
in Lyrics3 Tag v2. From this reason if you will use extended fields, do
NOT edit these fields in another ID3 Tag editor - extended field would be
no more recognized by MP3 Manager.
- Images - up to 99999 characters for links. Each item includes link to image,
description and timestamp for slideshow.
- Genre - standard genres according to specificactions of ID3v1 Tag are available.
In addition it is possible to insert any other text and save it as a genre.
There are several ways how to fill lyrics into editing window:
- Write yourself - well known but slow and tiresome
- Paste from clipboard (Ctrl+V, Shift+Ins)
- "Monitor clipboard" function. Usage:
- activate this function by click on button. Text on button turns to white
to let you know that it is enabled.
- open any text editor with lyrics or web browser on any of specialized
lyrics pages.
- select lyrics and copy them to clipboard.
- copied lyrics are automatically transferred into lyrics window.
- press "Save" or "Save +Next".
- Drag & Drop text from external source (browser, editor) supporting D&D.
- Create lyrics from external text file
- Download lyrics from web servers
Important note
VQF/WMA formats each use own tagging system... but unfortunately very poor
and different from ID3 Tag/Lyrics3 Tag. From this reason I've decided to use
ID3 Tag/Lyrics3 Tag as well for those files. It should not harm at all because
their tag is on file beginning. Disadvantage of this system is, that Winamp
does not display data from ID3 tag for VQF/WMA formats... but still it is good
for database keeping.
